So, you want to learn about the history of all media arts. The links on this page lead to both audio and visual histories. Although you will find overlaps in the categories, things have been roughly divided into five areas: Electronic Music, Electronic Visual Art, Related Areas, Mish-Mash and Science Stuff. The first two areas are probably self-explanatory: you'll find history, listening/viewing lists, scores, recordings, videos, and much more! Further links are provided once you get into these pages.

The third area, Related Areas, has information on electronic media that also includes dance, drama, and film. For instance, movies such as Forbidden Planet, which had a completely electronic score that was composed by Bebe and Louis Barron, are covered. Dancers like Merce Cunningham and Alwin Nikolais used electronic scores in many of their productions, so they, too, are discussed.

The fourth area, Mish-Mash, is the catch-all category. Much of the information related to both audio and visual arts is centered around more "classical" types of artwork. However, there are a number of arenas in popular culture that make use of the same materials the "classical" artists do. You'll be able to read about the ambient music, techno, house, the Grateful Dead, and more.

The final area of interest, Science Stuff, provides links to science musuems and computer museums throughout the world.
